A person who is emotionally aware recognizes her emotions as soon as they arise. She can precisely name her emotions and identify the “hot buttons” that trigger them: when and where they come from. She also learns how to guide them. What am I feeling right now? What, within myself, makes me feel that?
There are highly skilled lawyers with no sense of justice. And righteous people who ignore the law. Who therefore is the good citizen? Highlanders can build more efficient huts than high-status architects who design fancy looking, but inept for living buildings. For certain diseases, some tailor-made remedies by caring, experienced people help us more than one-size-fits-all medicine prescribed by doctors.
Since I was a teenager, I was someone people would trust with their secrets and would seek advice from. They knew I could keep their secret. Then, I used to believe in the goodness of giving advice. Over the years I have changed my mind.
